Prose

I have written many stories over the years but one of favorite is “A Bitter Cup of Memory” where a story is narrated by a girl who is reminising a distant childhood memory of a story told by her mother who believed she had once encoutered Hazrat Khizr (A.S), the Immortal, bound to roam the Earth till the day of judgement. The story narrated by the mother had a lasting impression over her, leading her to believe that she has also had an encounter with the Immortal One. The story is a bittersweet nostalgia about childhood stories and its impact over our beliefs and perspective.
I have also written and gotten a poem published by the name “O Hope just Kill me Now”. Even though I have always been inclined towards fiction writting but this poem was not just a creative outlet but a catharsis for me as I was able to put into words the intense emotions I had felt at the time. The theme around which this poem revolved is how hope is like an addictive drug always leaving us wanting more. With its ever increasing intensity the sudden deprivation leads the person to an unsatiable craving, creating a bottomless void in the pit of one’s soul, wanting more and more though never feeling satiated.
The third story I have gotten published is “The Perfect Idiot” in which the story of three friends chatting away at the centre of a canteen over a cup of tea is described. The three girls are relishing over the gossip about another woman which then sparks a heated discussion between the three about what truly makes one an idiot. This story is more about the nature of gossip, how a chain of conversation often leads us to hoping from one topic to another and how we often learn about things as a community through the sulacious act of gossip.
